2010-Here We Come!

WhittiervsGrandCanyonUniversity1The 2010 season is almost on us and we're gearing up to bring everyone the latest news and information on the upcomong season. The team will be led by newly named head coach Brian Kelly in his first full season as head coach. Of course, the veteran fans among us know that Brian is not a newcomer to Whittier Lacrosse. He has been with the team since 2005 as an assistant coach and is a Whittier lacrosse alumni. Brian played for the Poets from 2000 to 2003 and was twice named asa second team All-American! He was on the Whittier team that went to the 2003 national semifinals. Having had a taste of what it means to be on a winning team, Brian knows what it takes.

For parents and fans who plan to attend the games both home and away, we've published the 2010 schedule. We always caution everyone that the season schedule is subject to change, especially game times. So be sure to check back here often for the lastest information. We'll do our very best to keep the site up to date, even with last minute changes. Speaking of updating the site, we'll be adding and updating pages in the next few weeks. Some of the pages are blank right now and we apologize in advance for this missing content. As soon as we can add information, we will. As an early note, our fundraising efforts will soon get underway. We have an ambituous schedule to support this year with a full array of games planned. We hope you can provide any help you can.

We're working in a close partnership with the coaching staff this year to bring you all the information you need. As soon as we have the roster, we'll post it. We're going to rely on the official Whittier College Athletics site to provide game stats and summaries in detail. Travis Peters, the Whittier College Sports Information Director does a great job keeping track of all that stuff. He also sends out a newsletter via email that you can subscribe to here.

We also want to send out hearty congratulations to Anthony Lackey (2009) who was selected by the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League as the 43rd overall pick. Congratulations Anthony. For those of you who watched "Lackey" in action, you know Toronto has a great prospect. The Whittier College Athletics site has the official announcement.
